Supporting the UK’s first Knowledge Exchange

Global Fund for Children gives small grants to innovative community-based organisations working with the world’s most vulnerable children and youth. In 2010-2011, it supported over 300 organisations in 72 countries.

They also help their grassroots partners improve their sustainability, develop their networks, increase their visibility, and grow and deepen their capacity to positively affect children’s lives and last year held Knowledge Exchange workshops all over the world bringing together 68 organisations from 25 countries.

The first Knowledge Exchange event in the UK was hosted by one of the trustees of Global Fund for Children’s UK Trust, Dina de Angelo, at the impressive offices of Pictet Asset Management the City of London’s square mile.

Our contribution was a workshop to explore and share ideas on diversifying income with their six grantee partners. We first took stock of the fast evolving changes taking place in public commissioning and the other socio-economic trends that were fast impacting the sector and its work and considered what this meant for sustainable solutions for developing services, partnerships and securing income.

“I was able to identify specific actions, e.g. how to take the next step in forging links with a corporate partner, to improve our work and make our organisation more sustainable; it re-invigorated our passion for what we do…inspiring us to keep going!”

Clear Thinking Consultancy continues to work closely with another GfC UK grantee partner, YOH, a youth provider in Hackney, the second most deprived borough in the country.

It’s important that we continue to give time and space to thrashing out some of the key issues that, as Directors, keep us awake at night. Kita work with us has been crucial in supporting me to tackle some of our toughest business challenges.”
