Mobilising the workforce for the future

Periodically, all organisations, as they evolve to meet the changing local needs and external political climate, need to review the roles and responsibilities of its staff to ensure the efficiency of its operations and that staff members are well-equipped and supported to carry out their roles effectively.

In June, Clear Thinking Consultancy worked with a Hackney youth centre to rationalise its operational structure. We designed and delivered a bespoke development day to look at how the changes to commissioning and cuts in public funding has led to new ways of working and significant increases in the need for project management as a skillset in addition to face-to-face delivery.

Various activities sought to establish what this meant in terms of how individual roles had changed, what tools and processes have been put in place to manage this transition and support activity, and what specific training and development needs were needed to support their roles and longer term progression in the organisation.

Ertac Hassan, YOH’s Director of Operations, said that the day “helped to develop a common understanding of how roles have changes; this will help us to better support and develop staff and ensure their effective contribution to our overall vision.”

Other scheduled days include reviewing their strategic development plan, branding and in-house income generation training.
